Ensuring compliance and integrity in all Steel Standards Principles (SSP) meetings


Attendees are kindly reminded that the SSP endorsing organisations are committed to complying with all relevant antitrust and competition laws and regulations. For the purposes of SSP meetings, the following guidelines have been adopted, compliance with which is a condition of continued participation. You are therefore asked to have due regard to these guidelines today and in respect of SSP activities.

General Principles:

  • Meetings are convened for advancing industry standards, common methodology, sustainability and efficiency
  • Meetings aim to promote the steel industry’s decarbonization efforts with transparency and technology-agnostic approach and have no commercial interest
  • All discussions must remain focused on the agenda


Don’ts: during the meetings, it is prohibited to discuss:

  • Prices or pricing policies (current or future, price components, discounts, rebates, margins)
  • Production levels or output restrictions (capacity, closures, slowdowns)
  • Sales volumes, revenues or market shares
  • Bids, tenders, or strategies (coordination of bids or responses)
  • Allocation of customers, suppliers, or markets
  • Future business plans or market entry/exit, restricting competition
  • Boycotts or coordinated refusals to deal
  • Any non-public, competitively sensitive information


Meeting rules:

  • Agendas must be distributed in advance and followed closely
  • The chair will stop any inappropriate discussion
  • Legal counsel will be available in case sensitive topics arise
  • No side chats or private channels on sensitive topics
  • Minutes will be recorded accurately, reviewed and approved
  • Violations can result in severe fines, personal liability and reputational damage
